Your local locksmith in Coupar Angus

Coupar Angus is a Strathmore town — an old abbey town surrounded by some of the best growing land in Scotland, with the fruit farms and the haulage that goes with them. Despite the name it is in Perth & Kinross, not Angus. The housing is mostly older stone terraces around the square with newer estates on the edges, and there are farms and steadings scattered across the strath around it.

Stone terraces and timber doors. Much of the town centre is solid stone with timber front doors, and insurers usually expect a five-lever mortice lock meeting BS3621 on a timber door. A good number are still on older two- or three-lever locks that would not meet that standard. If you are not certain which kind of lock you have, we can tell you at the door.

Farms, steadings and outbuildings. Out in the strath the sheds hold real money — tools, quad bikes, machinery, chemicals. An outbuilding is nearly always the weakest structure on a holding, and the hasp and padlock it came with are rarely worth much. This is the cheapest security improvement available to anyone working land, and the one most often left until after something has gone.

The newer estates. Around the edges there is modern housing on uPVC and composite doors with multipoint locks. Builders usually fit a standard euro cylinder, and that cylinder is the part of a modern door a burglar is most interested in. An anti-snap replacement, certified to EN 1303 with a sacrificial break-away section, takes minutes and costs a fraction of the door.

Doors that need lifting before the key will turn. Common on any estate more than a few years old, and it is almost always the door rather than the lock. The door drops, the hooks stop meeting the keeps, and the handle takes the strain. Caught early it is an adjustment; left alone the gearbox fails, which costs more and can leave you locked in or out.

Seasonal lets and workers’ accommodation. The soft fruit season brings people into the strath, and where accommodation changes hands several times in a year the recurring problem is key control — keys that do not come back and no record of who holds what. A cylinder that can be changed quickly deals with most of it, and doors can be keyed alike so a changeover means one key rather than four.

Whatever the job in Coupar Angus, you get the same promise: no call-out fee, no fix no fee, and a clear price agreed before any work begins.
