Accreditations

Anyone can say they are checked and insured. These are the three bodies that have actually looked at Scotia Locksmiths, what each of them checked, and where you can confirm it for yourself.

Each one is a live listing you can search. If a locksmith shows you a badge and there is no listing behind it, that is worth knowing.

Trading Standards Approved Trader

Scotia Locksmiths was approved in October 2026 under the Scottish approved trader scheme run by SCOTSS, the body that represents every trading standards service in Scotland.

The vetting is carried out by Trading Standards, not by us and not by a directory we pay to appear in. It covered a Police Scotland background check, a Companies House check on the director, public liability insurance, terms of business, complaints handling, and how this website and our social media are worded.

It is worth being straight about what it does not cover. It is a check on the business and its record, not a judgement on any individual job. What it tells you is that somebody independent has looked at the paperwork.

You can check it yourself at approvedtrader.scot — choose Locksmiths and enter the first part of your postcode.

UK Locksmiths Association

Scotia Locksmiths became a vetted member of the UK Locksmiths Association in September 2026 and appears in the UKLA business directory.

Membership brings a tamper-resistant photographic identity card. It is carried on every job and offered without being asked. We ask every customer for a passport or driving licence before we leave the house, so a customer who asks the same of us is entitled to more than a logo on a fleece.

Perth & Kinross Better Business Partnership

A local scheme run alongside Perth & Kinross Council Trading Standards for businesses that agree to trade fairly and deal with problems properly. Trading Standards have confirmed that the logo may be displayed here.
