Cambusbarron is a village that has kept its own shape despite sitting on Stirling’s western edge. There is an old core of weavers’ and quarry cottages, and around it a good deal of post-war and modern housing built for people working in the town. Being this close to Stirling means we are rarely far away, and it means the village gets the same opportunist trouble as any suburb.

The modern housing. Most of the newer streets are on uPVC or composite doors with multipoint locks. Builders usually fit a standard euro cylinder, and the cylinder is the part of a modern door a burglar is most interested in. An anti-snap replacement, certified to EN 1303 and built with a sacrificial break-away section, takes minutes to fit and costs a fraction of the door.

Doors that need lifting before the key will turn. The commonest call we get from any estate of this age, and it is almost always the door rather than the lock. The door drops, the multipoint hooks stop lining up with the keeps, and the handle takes the strain. Caught early it is an adjustment. Left alone it becomes a failed gearbox, which costs more and can leave you locked in or out.

The old cottages. The older part of the village is stone with timber doors, and insurers usually expect a five-lever mortice lock meeting BS3621 on a timber door. Plenty are still on older two- or three-lever locks that would not meet it. If you are not sure which kind of lock you have, we can look and tell you in a minute.

Garages, sheds and back gates. A village of this kind is quiet during the working day, and outbuildings take the brunt of it. A shed or garage is usually the weakest structure on a plot, and the hasp and padlock it came with are rarely worth much next to what is kept inside.

Being a few minutes from Stirling matters when you are locked out. There is no call-out fee and mileage is included, so a short job here is charged the same as anywhere else we cover. The price is agreed with you before we set off, so nothing changes on the doorstep.

Whatever the job in Cambusbarron, you get the same promise: no call-out fee, no fix no fee, and a clear price agreed before any work begins.
